The Movement Principles form the foundation of Balanced Body Education. The course focuses on structural and muscular functions and then provides basic exercises to illustrate the information in movement. You will explore the following areas and create a foundation for becoming a successful Pilates teacher, personal trainer or movement educator:

  • Anatomy,
  • Assessment,
  • Movement biomechanics,
  • Foundation exercises

The Movement Principles provide a solid foundation for training in any environment, with any equipment – a Pilates studio or gym. Our focus is on whole body movement, segmented into five categories:

  • Trunk Integration,
  • Lower Body Strength and Power,
  • Upper Body Strength and Power,
  • Balance and Dynamic Flexibility,
  • Rest and Relaxation.

Your deeper understanding of the body’s functional movement will help you interpret situations you find with clients. This knowledge, combined with the exercise tool box you will develop, will allow you to effectively train clients recovering from injuries or to improve their general fitness and athletic performance. The focus on practical understanding of common movement patterns prepares instructors to be excellent at problem solving, goal setting and learning new exercise techniques with ease.

Movement Integration Studio offers both and ONLINE Option or a Bespoke Intensive Training whereby you complete 8 hours of ONLINE lectures followed by 5 days of intensive practical training. This course is designed for persons with some movement background and who have completed the Balanced Body Movement Principles and Anatomy.  For more information contact MI Studio for details. Maximum 2 persons per course. Located in Fort Worth, Texas

Practical Hours
Practical experiential hours are in integral part of the learning process. The coursework is designed to introduce movement concepts, exercises and exercise adaptations but it is equally as important that students practice on themselves (personal sessions), watch other instructors (observation hours) and begin the process of teaching potential clients (student teaching hours) in order to embody the materials that are presented in the courses. Courses alone give you the tools: experiencing the work makes you an instructor.

Personal Sessions
Students can count any classes or Pilates personal training session they have already taken. Online class resources such as Pilates Anytime may count toward personal sessions. Developing and committing to a personal Pilates practice is an essential part of becoming an effective and inspiring teacher.

Observation Hours
Observation hours include watching experienced instructors teach group classes of private sessions. Online resources such as BB Podcasts and Pilates Anytime count toward observation hours. Observation is a great way to understand verbal and manual cueing, program sequencing and to hone your teaching skills.

Student Teaching Hours
Teaching hours include any Pilates teaching either as an employee at a fitness center or Pilates Studio or for family and friends.

Reformer Practical Hours = 150
50 personal sessions; 100 student teaching hours -or-
